What is Professional Acne Treatment?

Professional acne treatment goes far beyond what you can do at home. At my Roseville studio, I use clinical-grade products, professional extraction techniques, and proven protocols to address acne at its source—not just treat surface symptoms.

Every acne facial includes deep pore cleansing, professional extractions performed with proper technique to avoid scarring, antibacterial treatments, calming masks, and LED light therapy (when appropriate). I also analyze your skin to identify triggers—whether hormonal, bacterial, or lifestyle-related—and create a comprehensive home care plan.

This isn't a one-and-done treatment. Acne requires consistent care and patience. Most clients see noticeable improvement after 3-4 treatments, with continued progress through a customized treatment plan typically lasting 3-6 months.

Types of Acne I Treat in Roseville

Hormonal Acne

Adult acne along jawline, chin, and lower cheeks caused by hormonal fluctuations. Common in women 25-45.

Cystic Acne

Deep, painful breakouts that form under the skin. Requires gentle treatment to avoid scarring.

Comedonal Acne

Blackheads and whiteheads caused by clogged pores. Responds well to regular extractions and exfoliation.

Inflammatory Acne

Red, inflamed papules and pustules. Requires antibacterial treatment and calming products.

Teen Acne

Common acne in teenagers due to increased oil production and hormonal changes.

Back & Body Acne

Breakouts on back, chest, and shoulders. Often caused by sweat, friction, or product buildup.

My Acne Treatment Protocol

1

Comprehensive Skin Analysis

I assess your acne type, severity, triggers, and skin sensitivity to create your personalized treatment plan.

2

Deep Cleansing

Medical-grade cleanser removes oil, bacteria, and debris without stripping your skin's protective barrier.

3

Enzyme or Acid Exfoliation

Gentle exfoliation unclogs pores and removes dead skin cells that contribute to breakouts.

4

Steam & Softening

Opens pores to prepare for safe, effective extractions.

5

Professional Extractions

Manual removal of blackheads, whiteheads, and pustules using proper technique to prevent scarring and infection.

6

Antibacterial Treatment

Application of acne-fighting serums containing salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, or sulfur to kill bacteria.

7

Calming Mask

Reduce inflammation and redness with soothing, healing ingredients.

8

LED Light Therapy (Optional)

Blue light kills acne-causing bacteria; red light reduces inflammation and promotes healing.

9

Home Care Plan

Customized product recommendations and skincare routine to maintain clear skin between treatments.

What to Expect: The Acne Clearing Timeline

After Your First Treatment

Skin will feel deeply cleansed and smoother. Some redness is normal for 2-4 hours. You may experience minor purging (small breakouts) as congestion comes to the surface—this is actually a good sign and should clear within a week.

After 3-4 Treatments (6-8 weeks)

Noticeable reduction in active breakouts, less oiliness, fewer blackheads, and improved skin texture. Existing acne scars may start fading.

After 6-8 Treatments (3-4 months)

Significantly clearer skin with minimal active breakouts. Skin tone more even, texture smoother, and confidence restored. At this point, most clients transition to maintenance facials every 4-6 weeks.

Acne Treatment FAQ - Roseville, CA

How quickly will I see results from acne treatment?

Most clients notice clearer, calmer skin after their first facial, but true acne clearing takes consistency. Expect to see noticeable improvement after 3-4 treatments (about 6-8 weeks). Severe acne may require 6+ months of regular treatments plus home care. Remember: acne didn't appear overnight, and it won't disappear overnight either.

Will extractions make my acne worse?

When done correctly by a licensed professional (me!), extractions clear congestion and actually prevent future breakouts. DIY extraction at home causes scarring, infection, and more acne. Some clients experience minor purging 2-4 days after their first facial as deep congestion comes to the surface—this is temporary and means the treatment is working.

Can you treat cystic acne?

Yes, but cystic acne requires a gentle, consistent approach. Deep cystic lesions can't be extracted like surface acne. I use anti-inflammatory treatments, LED light therapy, and targeted serums to reduce inflammation and prevent new cysts. For severe cystic acne, I may recommend you see a dermatologist in addition to regular facials for the best results.

I'm on Accutane—can I still get facials?

Not while actively taking Accutane (isotretinoin), sorry. Your skin is too fragile and sensitive for professional treatments. Wait at least 6 months after finishing Accutane, then we can start gentle facials. I can help you with post-Accutane skin recovery and scarring treatment.

Do you treat back and body acne?

Yes! Back acne ("bacne") is extremely common. I offer back facials with the same deep cleansing, extractions, and treatment protocols. Most clients need a series of treatments plus home care changes (shower immediately after workouts, change sheets weekly, etc.).

Can acne facials help with acne scars?

My acne facials focus primarily on clearing active breakouts, but they also help fade post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (dark marks). For deeper acne scarring, I recommend microneedling or chemical peels once your breakouts are under control.

How often should I come in for acne facials?

During the active clearing phase, I recommend facials every 2 weeks for the first 6-8 weeks. Once your acne is under control, we transition to monthly maintenance facials. Consistency is KEY—sporadic treatments won't give you the results you want.

Will my acne come back after treatment?

Acne is a chronic condition, not a cure-it-once-and-forget-it problem. Without proper maintenance, yes, breakouts can return. That's why I create a complete home care plan and recommend ongoing maintenance facials. Most of my acne clients continue monthly or bi-monthly facials long-term to keep their skin clear.
